    Gallet watch movement question

So I picked up this vintage Gallet in hopes of bringing it in for restoration however the movement seems to be an EP 40 although I'm measuring the case at around 34mm. Am I totally off base? I didn't think the EP 40 was ever cased in anything less than 37/38mm.

    Re: Gallet watch movement question

Possibly an EP42 in a round case? Roughly 27x29mm sized movement, so 34-35mm case would be plausible. And from this angle, in the pictures the movement doesn't look round either...

    Re: Gallet watch movement question

I missed this when it was posted. Those are probably the seller's photos, but to me that looks like a standard EP4. Two reasons, the base plate looks to be round, and I don't believe I've ever seen an EP42 with an Incabloc protection on the balance wheel.

MZH, can you please post some photos once you get the watch in your hands?

    Re: Gallet watch movement question

The empty spaces between the movement and the edge of the case at 3 and 9 o'clock wouldn't be there if it was a round movement...
I did find an EP42 with Incabloc on the web... Here's the image I found:

So it's either my eyes playing tricks on me, or there was a shockproof EP42.
I don't pretend to know much about these movements, but I do happen to trust my own eyes.

    You be the expert though...

I agree it is an EP-42 in a round case. Also the minute and hour hands are specific for the EP-42. Is the case serial number beggining with 83...?
The other examples like this that I have seen they had a diameter of 34,15mm without crown.
