    Game Show: Name That Bulova

Some of you (bobbee and others ) I know are well versed in Bulova so I thought you might know the name of a Bulova I have seen and considering buying but I was not able to get pictures. Here are the clues.
    14k case
    7ak movement
    1938
    Square mineral crystal
    Sub seconds at 6
Rather heavy case with heavy solid lugs and the case is tank style rectangular but the sides look rounded and more tubelike.

sorry if this is too limited info....but if not you should be hearing the Jeopardy countdown music playing.

    7AK, but how many jewels????
Rather heavy case, solid lugs, tank style, rectangular, rounded looking sides. Is the case back flat or curved??????
Square mineral crystal. In a rectangular case??????????

Bulova did a 14K solid gold "President" along with 50 or 60 other models.

    More/better info needed.

Afaik, the 7AK was only available in 21j. It was somewhat high end for Bulova and a lot of the President models used it. Did you try google or MyBul for a similar one?

Ok. Sorry for that square mineral crystal. It is rectangular but not a curved surface. Top is flat with sharp right angle corners. The whole watch looks original so I don't think it is a replacement. Yes it is 21 jewels. I tired of looking through My Bul. I do think I saw it on images when I googled Bulova 7ak, but the images have no names attached. I will try looking up Presidents since you mentioned that. Thanks....and yes caseback is flat.

Re: Game Show: Name That Bulova

If anyone interested I did go to My Bulova and found something that looks very similar if not it. It was a 1947 Bulova Tuxedo. There were several different cases with the Tuxedo name but this one from 47 was really close to my description . Of course not sure when tuxedos were first made. I'm pretty sure there was an inscription on the caseback I saw dating to 1938. I'm going back to see it again tomorrow if not sold.

There was also a 21 jewel "Ambassador" that looks like the "Tuxedo". That style of case design was not around in 1938, that I know of or have ever seen.

Thanks simple. Good info. It led me to a WUS thread from 2009. The 21j 7ak was available from 1936 to 1949. The case may be a Tuxedo, a Craftsman, or some other version of Excellency. Be hard to tell which. Maybe I can get a pix tomorrow.

Get the date code off the movement, if you can.

Interesting. That is the the same kind of watch or very similar. It is curious that the same discussion is going on, but it is not the watch I am considering.
