    'Geo Harrington' please help

I've never posted in here before, and have absolutely no knowledge of pocket watches, so please forgive my ignorance.

I have a silver pocket watch with the workings marked as 'Geo Harrington London 2668'. Can anyone tell me any history on these watches. I believe it used to belong to my great grandfather in the mid 1800s. I also have a gold plated ALD Dennison, but the Harrington is far prettier inside.

    Hi and welcome.

I can't tell you anything, but the members that we have who are knowledgeable about pocket watches will need to see pictures of the watch - including the movement (mechanism). Also clear pictures of the hallmarks will enable precise dating.

    Re: 'Geo Harrington' please help

Hi, the first watch by harrington is a verge watch, late 18thC to early 19thC by the looks.
Baillies ref gives a John Harrington working in london C1750, perhaps this watch is by his son
    or some other relative.
Good pics of the silver hallmarks would help to date it accurately.

The second watch is interesting in that it might have a rare, patented escapement type.
To remove the cover, slide the crescent shaped spring to the side and that will release the
cover and reveal the makers name.
If possible, some clear pics from the side of the movement looking in, might id the type.
Definitely exceptional quality for its time as hinted by the diamond endstone to the balance.
Pics of the hallmarks will help date it too.

    Edit
That last watch you posted whilst I was composing my reply so's I didn't see it.
probably better to post it in a seperate thread to avoid confusion.

These are the innards of the second watch. And I've tried to take photos of the hallmarks. There seemed to be markings inside both halves of the case.

    Hi,
Your Manning watch has London hallmarks for 1840.

The watch is a fusee lever, possibly a patented Massey variant, they were often fitted with
    these distinctive balance cocks.
Impossible to tell without a really close inspection with a loupe I'm afraid.

A fine watch as is the Verge, great dial on the Verge.
