Gift to myself: Vintage Seiko Lord Marvel

I love the simple and plain look of a watch with no day or date.
Recently I have become fond of Seiko, I think they make a very nice watch.
Bought myself a little present, perhaps I paid more than my usual.

    Vintage Duke Marvel,

I wonder what year it was made? On the back is says
    Seiko Waterproof
    919444
    5740 8000
    44.4.20

I have been wearing it every day.

Beautiful watch! If I'm not very mistaken, 5740-8000 is the reference, so googling this number should return something. 919444 then would be the serial number, its first two figures pointing to a production date in 1969 (January?).

    Hope this helps!

    Best,

Made in January 1969 as Tomcat thought.

Yep '69.... beautiful example...all original with sharp lug.... Swiss made preoccupation makes this quality seem ridiculously cheap....
    So many watches.....so little time.....
