Glossy dial on Enicar Super Jet?

The dial looks good/original to me, but I can't recall seeing a glossy dial before. Does anyone know whether this is correct?

I'm on the fence for this one. It's a complicated dial, not one that is easily reproduced. But your excellent angle photo shows the ripply-ness and bumpy finish. That would not (or should not) pass QC at any watch company.

Possible for it to be a "Friday, end of shift" watch?

I'm struggling with it also. The printing is very good, and the lume also looks original to me. But there are some reflections around the markers that look like what you see when a dial has been repainted. I wonder if somebody put a clear coat over the original dial. Is that a possibility?

Dial does not look "refinished"; but it is very possible that a clear coat was added on top of dial, thus "post-finished?" (or overfinished; not sure of the term to use)

Re: Glossy dial on Enicar Super Jet?

It could well be OK but It's difficult to say from those images. I keep a black dial and a silver dial Super Jet. Looking straight down on them in muted natural daylight
the silver dial has a subtle satin sunburst finish. The black dial ( although marked and showing it's age ) looks matt. However when shot at a slight angle the black dial
takes on a semi satin finish. When shot with more reflections it almost looks glossy.

That slight unevenness / micro blistering is not unusual on old black dial compressor cased watches. I keep a 1962 JeanRichard Aquastar that looks the same under
magnification but isn't noticeable on the wrist.
Jet's and Super Jets are wonderful watches with very robust chronometer grade automatic movements but it's important to check the following before buying.

    1. The top crown turns the GMT outer wheel on the dial. That must turn smoothly clockwise and anti clockwise. They are very difficult to source and can't easily be repaired.
2.The date should change smoothly without jumping. The quickset should change without encouragement after turning backwards and forward between 8 and 12 O clock.
3.All models should be blessed with two cross hatched Enicar Super Compressor crowns.

Many thanks for your first-hand knowledge @kazrich.

I've got a Super Dive with black dial. It's got a mottled, matt finish from age but a slightly glossy finish around the perimeter where it's aged less. Sorry I can't catch this in a photo. It looks like the Super Jet has had laquer applied over the dial and markers - not sure how easy it would be to remove this if you wanted to.

Re: Glossy dial on Enicar Super Jet?

I just couldn't quite get myself to pull the trigger on this one. Something about the dial just concerned me, and I really think there was some sort of coating over everything, including the lume dots. For the curious, it went for about $2,100.

    Thanks to everyone who contributed.
