    Hey blokes,

Not me. But since it's a closed auction, a link might be helpful for discussion purposes.....

Lots for me to learn, but I am going to hazard that movement incorrect for that case, thus the issue with winding.. the movement looks to have a stem release screw.. am I right or wrong?

Re: Gold Borgel Wristwatch on Ebay..

I did ask for a side picture of the movement, as i was kind of interested in it.. and where the pin set and winding crown go in.. looked exactly like every other Borgel i could find a picture of. Annoyingly my own is off getting a service so i couldn't simply unscrew it and look for myself.

The seller believed that it was like the winder was too short.. however comparing again with pictures from some of Marcs threads.. the winder looked the same.

I kind of thought perhaps when the winder went back in.. the seller hadn't engaged the winding hole on the crown, with the key coming out of the movement. That was my only thought on the matter.

However, at $557 AUS.. it was way more than i wanted to spend so i didn't bother. I'm not really a gold person but i thought this might of been a little on the rare side.

Edit: I'm no expert either, so you might be right mate. But it looked hunky dory to me when comparing to other movement pictures.

For comparisons sake, here's a picture of my Tavannes movement from my Dennison watch. Its the same layout except the screws and ratchet are a little different..

And this is the Tavannes from my Borgel. I think it has the screw that you're referring to as well.

I`m still learning about trench watches myself, but i am yet to see one with offset crown at 3.30,could be rare? The experts would know.

I think the movement is not sitting right in the case.. if I understand the system correctly, the winding mechanism is meant to have aligned with the crown in the case..

Yes, i asked that myself but as i thought, the case is unscrewed in the photo. The winding crown lines up with 3.

Re: Gold Borgel Wristwatch on Ebay..

To me, the movement looks like a higher grade (17j, screw in chatons) version of my Dennison Tavannes movement.

The only other 17j i've seen in a Borgel was Marcs Electa / Gallet. Never seen a Cyma / Tavannes.

Here is a snippet from David's website (Vintage Watch Straps) on the Tavannes movement.

    Tavannes Calibre 330/331/332/333 13''' - 3B movement

This is a Tavannes Calibre 330 series 13''' - 3B movement from a Borgel wristwatch. Although this particular movement has the legend "Tavannes Watch Co" engraved on the ratchet wheel, these movements are often seen without any reference to the manufacturer. The shape of the main cock (not a bridge) holding the pivots of the centre, third and fourth wheels is very distinctive.
