Just thought I'd show you this as I got it back from the watchmaker yesterday.
A batch of 15 off ebay, bought for £12, contained this solid 9 ct gold Rotary. It has a Dennison case hallmarked Birmingham 1954 and an ETA 2370 17 jewel movement. The crown was missing and the stem was too short - but it would run. So here it is, overhauled and repaired (for £48). Quite nice, methinks.
I notice that Rotary doesn't figure strongly on US ebay - 5 at the moment - but it was a very strong middle quality brand here in the Uk - 286 on UK ebay today. One reason was that in 1940 they became the official supplier to the British army (at least the major supplier). Thus a Rotary watch ended up in virtually every house in Britain. Still around for quartz, but poorer image.
