    Great-grandmother's Gintz pocket watch

My mom just found my great-grandmother's old pocketwatch. It's a tiny little thing - 25mm wide - and says it's Swiss Made from the brand Gintz, which Google has never heard of. Inside engraving seems to indicate it's 14k gold, a (serial?) number 89303 can be seen under my great-grandmother's name. Just wondering if anyone here would happen to know more.

It doesn't run, sadly. Crown is loose and doesn't turn. If I took this to a watchmaker, what's the chance he'd be able to revive it - considering we know nothing about the origin of the movement, etc?

This is just a typical Swiss bar style movement with what looks to be a cylinder escapement. Everything can be fixed, and since we really don't know what is wrong with it, there is no reason to believe it can't be brought back to life. Could just need a cleaning. You say the crown is loose but doesn't turn? Can you elaborate? Ron

That's a nice watch. I can't find anything about Gintz either. There was an old, removed, listing on ebay for an 8-day one - not very useful I'm afraid.

I tried to wind the watch and it was stuck - wouldn't rotate - and when I then tried to pull out the crown to set the hands it turned out not to be held in place at all, so it came out.
