    Gruen 50th clean and oil

Also some hidden rust removal. Fine careful work and record photos by a really skilled enthusiastic expert true watchmaker. This a followup to my post of 4 weeks past: Should a Fine Virgin Collectible be Violated? Opinions were strongly for servicing not for being an untouched static art object.
Zero cosmetic impact job. Photos of my serial 70 and his identical 204 on green(gruen). Photo on black is before work and shows color accurately. Gruen favored gruen gold color for cases.

    Oh that's just...stunning.

Who's Allan Collier? Any connection to the old Collier's magazine?

I intend to find out. Seller not co-operating. Owner was from Flint, Michigan. Maybe from car business that bought Gruen presentation watches. GMC and others awarded a lot of Gruens.

    Astonishing pics.
The fifth pic is amazing, the quality of this movement is 'dripping' from my PC screen.

The bridge screws seem to be sitting in polished steel 'cups', I've never saw this
    before in any other watch.

    Hi -

    Absolutely gorgeous. Seriously nice watch.

Great point on the hidden rust: if you have a watch, even one never destined to be worn or used, it deserves a once-over from a watchmaker to make sure that there isn't anything lurking inside. Otherwise you might pop the back one day ten years later to discover a disaster that can't be recovered from...

Radger: First one of these was made with 14k. Found to be too soft. Thus 12K with screws in polished steel sleeves.

Outstanding! I am very thankful you decided to share this process (and your other Gruens) here on this forum.

Easy decision with something to brag about to an understanding and appreciative audience. Also nice to have this helpful worldwide group of generous experts. And nice to have available an amatuer in profession, but expert watchmaker, enthusiastic enough to take extra time to make nice photos. We will make a little report to NAWCC that has the Gruen family collection. They probably have no photos like these of theirs.
