    Gruen p.w. dials

Gruen was among the first in U.S. to use the Swiss style of metal dials. Mainly silver plate on brass with black enamel or gold numbers. I am not sure if Gruen made any dials. Always thought they did since Fred Gruen had metal dial patents. Examples here show Fred tried to compete with the best by using same dial as Vacheron. Who made these complex dials? Real gold and platinum? 2 from elsewhere. Mine the Green Gruen.

Damn if Gruen wasn't the "Invicta" of 100 years ago!

    Re: Gruen p.w. dials

These 3 are about same age 1920+. The Vacheron has a movement very like the later D. Gruen supplied by a Locle maker. It is 21j, 8 adjustments. The best Verithin Gruens were 8 positions and temperatures whether 17j, 19j or 21j. Gruens were not cheap with the better Verithins and D. Gruens, so did not sell many p.w. like the big 3 Americans did, and the modern Invictas for w.w. Fred Gruen did fairly good volume with w.w. but did not do big volume with lower grade p.w. with lower grades Watch Specialties, Premo, Gruin Guild, Semithin
