Hafis 17 Jewel - date anyone?

Found this little Hafis (with a henri sandoz & fils 17 jewels movement) for $1. Wasn't working and the crystal was badly gouged but although I have it ticking over getting it to work reliably is beyond my ability - so probably off to Dave for a fix!

But my question is - can anyone tell me the movement and date?

I cannot help, but I must say that is impressive decoration there. It looks like it's been hammered with a ball peen hammer.

That's a real mix you got there, rectangular dial (that's too small!) in a tonneau case, with a small ladies movement (FHF?).
    Bit of a "Heinz"!

EDIT- Sandoz and Hafis (F. Suter) are seperate companies too.

My fault with the photo. Didn't have the movement correctly fitted into the case. Hopefully in this shot you can see that the case is a perfect fit. Also the case back is marked Sandoz! and with the correct movement details. And I'm not sure that's a ladies movement necessarily.

    So. Interesting.

The dial a little bit more to the left (seen face up), if the crown and winding stem allow, and I agree with the perfect fit. Don't worry, it also took Victor Frankenstein a while before he had correctly placed the head in the middle of the shoulders.

HAFIS is a trade name of an importer (not a manufacture's name), behind which we find Mr. Roland A. Gsell (Gsell R. & Co. Inc. New York, founded 1923), jeweller and watch importer. He died in 1991 at the age of 95. Born in Switzerland, he emigrated to the USA in 1918. Later on, he became a Board Member and the President of the Jewelers Security Alliance.

He was also connected to Lafayette, Lafayette Watch Co./R. Gsell & Co. Inc., watch imports, New York and Geneva, Switzerland.

Looks like a 70's movement; no import code and incabloc with a movable stud carrier. Something from the FHF 60 line; I think it says 67 under the balance wheel? bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: FHF 69

Hafis IS a trade name of a manufacturer of watches, as I posted above.
It has been a trade name of F. Suter in Bienne, registered as early as 1916, and as late as 1962.

Aha! I'm still reasonably happy with it for $1.
