    Hamilton 992E Elinvar

I've got the bug and I'm looking to start my vintage pocket watch collection. I recently saw a Hamilton advertised on the net as being a 992E Elinvar but it says the watch was made in 1934. Is this possible? I thought Elinvar wasn't used until later.

Here's a much earlier ad from Hamilton touting its 992 Elinvar movement.

Many thanks Tom! I guess it's a neverending job to be careful of one's sources. I had been told that Elinvar wasn't used until much later.

Although the Elinvar balance was patented in the U.S. in 1919 and 1923, I read on the NAWCC site that Hamilton acquired the rights to use it in 1931.
