HEFIX ROYAL SEAL AUTOMATIC 25 JEWELS INCABLOC MENS GOLD WATCH

Please can anybody give me anymore information on this watch. This watch was presented to my grandad in the early 1970s as a reward for 50 years service at work. He worked at a company called Harolds Gauges Ltd in Birmingham. Originally it was a jewellers in Jewellery quarter but during the war it was tasked by the government to change to the production of gauges

Re: HEFIX ROYAL SEAL AUTOMATIC 25 JEWELS INCABLOC MENS GOLD WATCH

Welcome to the Watchuseek forum. I have never heard of the maker and it is probably not important. There were literally hundreds (probably more like thousands) of small watch factories in and before the seventies. The way they all survived was by buying in a generic movement (the "motor" of the watch) and casing it with a dial with their own name on it. This way, they would have saved on the most costly part of watchmaking: developing and making their own movement. In such watches, the movement maker is far more important than the maker of the watch. Some movement makers made cheap, rugged but not all that accurate pin lever movements (e.g. EB, =Ebauches Bettlach), others (e.g. ETA, Adolf Schild, FHF) made high quality movements to rival those of in house movements of the few companies that made their own. The fact that yours has a 25 jewel movement with Incabloc shock proofing shows that you have a higher quality movement. If you post a picture (go to a professional watchmaker to have the watch opened if you can't manage it without damaging the watch), we will identify the movement for you.
