    Heirloom Hamilton Masterpiece

Hamilton Masterpiece awarded to my granddad-in-law upon his retirement in 1966 and worn continuously until the crown came off. Here are the "before" and "after" picture:

    Before:

    After:

The crown is temporary. I'd say the watch looks quite a bit nicer after cleaning the case and buffing the crystal.

Thankfully, it runs eagerly (although I have now jinxed it, no doubt...)

Anyway the 25 Jewel grade 620 has the microrotor -- so thin! I will have it professionally serviced sometime soon.

Looks great, and hopefully there is a meaningful case-back engraving.

    Nice watch.

Being a masterpiece, the watch most likely will not be in any catalog as it was an awards division watch. However that case and dial were also used in the Thin-o-matic line.

I like the case as it has a stepped bezel which makes a sort of crown guard.

I love those one piece case watches however I hate the stupid split crown. Seiko offered a bunch of watches with a 1 piece case but on theirs you removed a bezel and then pulled the crystal. Then you pushed a tab and the crown and stem came out and the movement came out.

Here is my old Thinomatic with the same type of case.

The proper crown will have the -H- Hamilton logo

Be careful on who does the work. Stem is discontinued. I had a gold one and sold it as I couldn't find a stem for it.

Just wonderful. An engraved case back does add some history to the watch.
