    Help with Favre-Leuba Zenith Wristwatch

I have this boys size wristwatch the says on the dial Favre-Leuba Zenith Swiss Made. Above the names is the Zenith star but on the crown is the F-L hourglass.

It is a pretty plain dial with blued hands and Arabic numerals but no lume.

I can't get the back off because my case opener doesn't really fit and I don't want to mar it up.

    The serial number is 8718405.

What ever information I could get about this watch would be appreciated. Age, history, idea of movement, etc.

    Thanks,

    Chad

    Zenith is quite prized

The back looks like a crew off type

Good thing you didn't try to pry it off

I wasn't going to pry it off. The flat sided attachments for my case wrench didn't make a good fit so I didn't try to unscrew it because I didn't want to round off the edges.

The pipe which is long and a tight fit I'll guess together with the back and stainless case make it look like a Zenith and if you paid Favre Leuba money for it you've done well 'cos that engine is a peach. Does the crown feel stiff and not springy when wound? That's another clue to a Zenith (Ten minutes of TLC makes such a difference. A mate paid me £20 recently for just cleaning out the pipe and crown which fixed it.) Nice watch but a bit of a mystery.

I didn't pay much for it.

    The winding is pretty stiff.

Too bad it is only about 1 3/8" long lug tip to lug tip and about the same width including crown.

From what little I know, FL in India, was a dealer for other manufacturers, including Zenith. I suspect this is the case for your watch. Regards
