Help ID Bulova self winding watch.

I grabbed this from my late uncle's place, I believe it was my grandfather's everyday wear in the 70's. It's in good shape but needs a service.

Can you guys look at photos and help me ID it, please? My local watch maker offered me $25 (but with him I could probably talk him into $50) for it to use as parts.

I may keep it, not sure, yet.

    Thanks in advance.

There is not too much to say from your photos. I doubt there was any specific model name for this watch, just a diver-style automatic Bulova from the late 60s or early 70s, which is when the transition was made from "waterproof" to "water resistant" markings on watches. It seems to be in nice condition and has a stainless case, so if it's running at all, it's worth quite a bit more than $50. If you put it on eBay, I bet someone would pay $200 for it. Just my opinion.

You could show us an image of the movement which would provide more informaion, especially the caliber. This back is a bit tricky if you don't have that special opening-tool from Bulova. The ring around with the notches needs to be turned and then the back can be taken off. I know people doing that with a blunt toothpick which avoids the danger of scratches, but that thing shouldn't be sitting too tight. There are many other methods which I do not dare to suggest.

Looks like a decent Bulova to me. Probably has a 17j movement. I wouldn't give it away for $50 but unless it's serviced with a nice strap I wouldn't expect $200 on the market right now either. It is a nice watch worth servicing and keeping in my opinion.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I wound it up today and it does feel a little rough, but it does keep time. I'm going to hold, service, wear here and there. I'm not going to remove the case back but when it's done I'll throw up a photo.

    Thanks again, all!
