    Re: Help identify old Cortebert

Welcome to Watchuseek. I am afraid that we can say almost nothing about that watch without more detailed pictures (especially of the insides). The watch actually looks marginally fishy to me since the size of the "Cortebert" font looks rather too big for the dial. Some other, comparative watches to verify that would be of help. In any case, the dial has ben badly redone: the lettering has been painted over or at the very least the paint has crept up the sides, also there should be a subdial for the subseconds (the cut off "6" shows that) but this is lacking. In addition, the subseconds hand is broken or a replacement since it is far too short for the (expected) subdial. Cortebert were a movement maker so that watch should have one of their own movements inside - if not, it is likely to be a complete fake. Style wise, the watch looks like it's from the late 1940s or the early 1950s.
