Help identify this Patek Pocket Watch

    Hi all,

I am trying to figure out this Patek watchone. I have information that it is Cal. 17.140 and movement is 892.913.

Any guess on it's vintage and value?

    Hi -

Welcome to WUS and the Vintage and Pocket Watch forum.

I'm not an expert on pocket watches, so I'll let my colleagues put in their 2 cents' worth.

However, we do no do valuations here: please read the sticky note at the top of the forum about valuations (there are even two of them) as to why not.

We don't do valuations in this forum read our sticky notes for reasons why. The movement number would date the watch to around 1967.

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate the reasons why you can't provide valuations. I am a newbie, so my apologies for the faux pas.

I have other watches that I need identified, so perhaps I can ask for the kind assistance of the members once again.

    Hi monkeyknows,

it looks like late fifties, but the movement serial number dates it to 1946.

    Hi Roland.
Could you give your source for the Patek Philippe serial numbers as it is quite different from mine and probably a better one.
    Thanks.

    Hi monkeyknows,

oops, I mixed the digits: The production year is 1964, not 1946.

@Ray: Maybe my production year now meets your source.

Anyway, dating Patek Philippe watches is complicated, because they used
several numbering systems in parallel. A reasonably detailed list is contained
in the book "Huber & Banbery: Patek Philippe Geneve". Moreover, I've recorded a couple of known production dates, and both sources together allow acceptable estimations.
