Help me to find a pocket watch as a gift

A close friend of mine is leaving the country in a few weeks and i would like to buy him a pocket watch. He is an old fashioned kind of guy and i think he would be really happy with one.

    My criteria are:

    Mechanical,
sterile styling without a skeleton dial or copious amounts of engraving.
preferably new - is this even possible nowadays?
    And under $100US budget.

Can any of you please point me in the right direction? Im having a hard time on ebay with the masses of cheap, quartz and tacky styled watches.

I did find this one which seems promising but im hesitant on the quality:

Thanks a lot for the help!

Sorry, I don't know of any.

Tissot, Rotary and Orient all make mechanical PWs - but not in your price range.

Moljna (Russia) used to, but no longer.

    Maybe someone else can help.

    Hi Dado,

the watch you refer to is simply trash. New mechanical pocket watches in
acceptable quality are not available under US$ 100.00. But among old
watches it will be easy to finde one in both, reasonable quality and good
    condition.

You <might> find something new out of China for that much. Your typical modern Swiss pocketwatch, however, uses an ETA 6497/6498, and last I checked the movment alone sells for $150.

I've never known for a decent mechanical pocket watch to be sold for less than $100, with all the criteria that you name. You can try: www.pocketwatchsite.com and look through their various price-ranges for ideas, though. Personally I think $100 is an unrealistic price-range.

I sorta doubt you'll find even a vintage for under $100 once you factor in service, unless you happen to know a good/cheap watchmaker.

Go to Ofrei.com and look in the watch section, they may still have what I call pseudo railroad watches with ETA 6497 movements for approx. $150.

Second choice do some web searching for a Molnija pocket watch. They are out of production now, but some might still be out there.
