Help me identify and value my Bulova!

    Hi all,

I have recently acquired an original Bulova WW2 watch.

I was hoping you guy could help me identify it and maybe value it?

Don't think I will sell it i'm just curious about the history of this piece.

The watch on the left is a 43mm i have used to size comparison.

    Cheers

As a rule, value estimates are not given.

My suggestion would be to search completed auctions on eBay and the like to see what similar watches have sold for.

Looks like about a 1940's style military watch. The dial and hands look right for the era. Probably will have a 15j or 17j movement in it. As stated, no values given but you can probably check completed listings on ebay to give you an approx. value. A lot pertains to condition also. Can you get a movement picture?

That case back looks wrong or strange, or both.
Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.

It looks strange, but the un-numbered "GRADE WG" is apparently a legit US military watch. I don't know enough to say if the rest of the watch is correct, and obviously we haven't seen the inside.

    No harm, no foul.

I'm sure most of us will be happy to have a peek under the hood.

Always like playing Where's Waldo with the date stamp. 10AK movement from between 1936 and 1954 according to Ranfft.

bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: Bulova 10AK

Date stamp of circle puts the movement at 1944.

Interesting that yours is labeled and seems to have 15 jewels when the Ranfft database says it was a 17 jewel movement. Considering it was 3 years into war production, it still makes sense to me at least.
