    Help needed identifying this watch

Hi guys. This watch belonged to my older brother. I fondly remember him wearing it as I was growing up. About a year after he passed away his oldest son started wearing it. That would have made my brother very happy. I know that he got it in the 70’s, but I don’t know anything else about it. If you know the year and anything about this old gold watch I’d appreciate it because I want to pass the info on to my nephew. Thanks in advance.

My nephew just sent me a photo and I guess I remembered it differently. Looks like it was SS.

    Most likely a ref. 198.002, powered by the Omega 1250 (ETA-ESA 9162): bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: Omega 1250 (ETA-ESA 9162)

Without better shots (just a screenshot in B&W? Seriously?!), not much more to say. 198.002 seems to be a match, but the reference number will be on the inner side of the case back. Also, we don't know if this one actually has the 1250 inside, unless we get to see it. That it's gold, doesn't say much either. Can be solid gold, can be gold plated. Again, there is no telling without seeing the markings on the inside of the case back.

EDIT: That's a bit better. Since it's steel, if it's a 198.002, it's an ST 198.002 (ST being the material code for stainless steel in post-1962 6- and 7-digit Omega reference number system).
