    Help with Omega 30T2

    Hi all,

Just picked up this old Omega 30T2. A few questions, as I am not an expert on these, and I'd sure appreciate your help.

Does anyone know if this is the chronometer version? The inside case back reads 2324/2.

I'll need a new crown - anyone know what sort this would take? Would be it be a signed Omega crown? Unsigned?

Lastly, based on the serial numbers on the movement, anyone know what year this is from?

You all may not like the dial but I have to say there is something endearing about the beat up look. A new crystal should help a ton. Anyhow, thanks for your help!

Can't help you with the movement questions - but the crystal looks OK to me (no cracks) so the scratches will polish out nicely.

    update;

The Omega site comes up with this for this case number:

    Reference
    MI 2324
    International collection
    1943
    MovementType: Manual winding (mechanical)
    Caliber number: 30 SC T2
    Created in 1940
    16 to 18 jewels
    Central sweep-second hand
    Case - Stainless steel
    Case back - Press-in
    Dial - Not available
    Crystal - Hesalite
    Bracelet - Leather
    Water resistance - No

Also try this site http://chronomaddox.com/omega_serial_numbers.html which tells you the date to be around 1939.

No, it's not the chronometer version, that designation is calibre 30T2 SC RG. Crown would have been unsigned. Crystal unsigned.

Does anyone know about the rarity of the model of this black dial with gold lettering? Anyone seen a pristine example? Thanks for the help!

"Rare" is a relative term. I would say more uncommon than rare. It's just that most of the original Omega dials from that era look at lot like that one.

You should be find a better one by using Google. Like this:
