    Re: Help With Pocket Watch

Yes, one of the two will have added the chrono module. If it was LeCoultre, it will probably have become a movement with a new official designation (rather like the ETA 2391 manual movement became the ETA 2451 once an automatic winding module was added - by ETA, of course!). But then, sometimes, the end user adds complications and until one finds an "official" LeCoultre calibre that matches this one, it might have been either of the two that was responsible for this.....

Thanks Hartmut and now that I have the watch in hand I started looking to see if any other LeCoultre movements matched this one. Here is a Grandjean that appears to me to be the same chronograph module although hammer layout is different and is also marked LeCoultre under the hammer. Would Humberto and Grandjean add the same chrono module to a LeCoultre movement or could this be a movement LeCoultre made in its entirety?

That's difficult to know. However, since we have two different end users with closely related movements in which the chronograph module is identical, this in my opinion supports the theory that the same company made the (entire) base movement. And that would be JLC, unless there was a specialist for adding chrono modules to existing movements (as Dubois-Depraz was and still is).

In my opinion, at least the parts came from the same maker, even if they were assembled by the end users.
