    Here's an unusual one for you

    just got this in and I'm stumped, it's a GRANT the dial looks original to me and the movement is also marked Grant, I found a bit on Mikrolisk and it appears they were American but the dial is marked SWISS, just the movement I guess, the thing that drew me to this watch was the case finish, it's a blackened steel case, the finish is very durable and reminds me of a gun metal finish, anyway here are some pictures, as always any info gratefully received.

    GXR comes back as Grant, Emil Braude & Sons so they did import the movements themselves it seams.

    Very nice find! The movement looks like it could need a bit of cleaning . It seems to be from the AS 1002 family: bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: AS 1002

    With the edge of the mainspring gear so close to the edge of the movement, I suspect it's more likely to be the smaller cousin of the AS 1002:
