How do I measure a PW bezel correctly? Update:

I have a snap on bezel on my 12s Waltham. It's an open face. It's missing the crystal. I have a few crystals and pretty sure I've narrowed it down to the correct size. I was thinking of taking it down to my watch guy to pop the new glass in as I can't seem to heat the bezel up with any primitive measure I have. Anyway, I was looking very closely at the edges of the lip and there is a section that looks a little worn and am wandering if the new glass will even seat. So preparing myself to maybe have to find another bezel. I measured the outside at 42.5mm. When I look at bezels on the bay, but i don't see any in .5 increments. Just whole numbers. Should I be measuring in a different location?
The first pic is the good side. 2nd pic is the bad side.

It's probably not quite as simple as that, as it's going to depend somewhat on the exact maker of the case. Movement sizes were standard; I doubt anything else was. In most cases, you're probably better to use the existing bezel, and use crystal cement to hold it.

That's what I figured. I do have a crystal one size under the one that would have worked and it seats pretty good around the bezel. I just ordered some UV glue off the bay for $8. Guess I'll just glue one on. Thanks Rob!

Unfortunately round is often just nearly round. For open face watches you usually find a matching one which stay inside if you try both correct sizes and have the right cut of the cristal. If you've a hunter with this thin glases its often nessesary to use glue. Since a friend told me the trick with watersolvable woodglue and a toothpick its running well and if " s.... happens" everything is easily removeable. I avoid UV glue.

    Kind regards Silke

This is an open face. I have a few crystals. The one that is the correct fit I'm afraid will not stay stabilized with the lip worn on one side. The one I plan to glue seems to fit flush all the way around. It's a nice PW that I plan to just hang in a dome so hopefully not much of a chance of it breaking again.

So I got me some uv glue. Followed all directions and installed this glass crystal last weekend. Looks nice!

The nice part about UV glue is that you can take your time applying the glue (and clean off any mistakes); you aren't in a race against the curing time of the glue. Most glues (UV or otherwise) can be easily dissolved by soaking the entire bezel in a suitable solvent.

Yes, acetone works for dissolving UV glue should you need to remove the crystal later.

Yea, I globbed it on pretty good. Cleaned it off later with a q-tip and acetone.
