    I call it dumb luck.

OhDark30 found my post on F71, and recommended that I share here too.

Recently I inherited a Buliva M5 from my wife's grandfather. It was not working. After examining the exterior to the best of my ability, curiosity got the better of me, and I popped the back off of the case so I could look at the movement.
I am not the most knowledgeable when it comes to mechanical movements, but I do know generally what does what from examining whats around it. It turns out that the balance wheel was stuck. After gently massaging/playing/working it back and forth I got it moving again. I did this last night whilst at work. It is again working.
This morning, I put it up next to my HMT Pilot to see if it would gain or lose much time. As of 23:00 (GMT -5) it is +6 seconds. Still I will only wear that one on special occasions.

Btw I have been reading the forums for months, so I'm kinda new.

BTW if anyone can assist in identifying the exact model I would appreciate it.

I don't know what model it is, but I recommend you have the watch serviced soon - that balance was stuck for a reason, you know?

Hi, here is a 1967 advert I found some time ago. The dial looks like a shaded dial, but I think it could be the artist's rendition of a quarter-faceted crystal. Lisa of Watchophilia also has this charcoal dial model.

Thanks Kath, finding them is so much fun, especially when you reveal previously unknown models (saddo!).
    Thanks all for the "likes",
    Bob.

That is a very nice looking Bulova you have inherited there.
If that M5 is engraved on the case back then your watch is dated to 1965.
Could you possibly post a picture of the movement?
