I need some info on this Omega Pie Pan on eBay!

Found this on eBay. And whilst its a little under the weather, I kind if like the dial. Can someone confirm it looks legit? ASAP! Thanks everyone!

    1. Does this watch qualify as a pie-pan if it doesn't have the pie-pan? I'm wondering, since the oblique side view doesn't seem to show it as a pie-pan

    2. This watch has it spelled as 'chronometre'; others have it spelled as 'chronometer'. I've seen both being used on what experts say are genuine Omegas, so I'm curious - does the different spelling mean anything? (eg. different eras? different markets?)

Hoping to hear from the experts - thanks!

Since you are looking at Omegas from this period I suggest that you set aside a few hours and read the various articles on this site:

    Omega Constellation Collectors

There is a list of popular articles at the bottom of the right hand column and it will save you time and money in the long run.

    Hi there,

the dial was likely "piepanized" some time ago. The print is fairly aligned, but still far from Omega standard.

    +1
The site in Mirius's link is the bees knees for the Constellation enthusiast.

It isn't a pie pan, it is two-tone. Another genuine and sort after design. I really like the design of the dial, it is just the condition that turns me off.

Re spelling if chronometer, the change happened in the mid 1950s I think but if you google chronometer vs chronometer constellation, you'll get a number of hits on this and other forums.

+1 too. Desmond's blog is a treasure trove of information!

Thanks to Canberra's pointer, here's the forum thread about the 'TER' vs 'TRE'.

The link in that forum to Desmond's article is outdated, here's the updated link.

As always, the man with the info is Desmond! While his blog is the bees' knees, I confess the lovely Constellation pictures there make me weak in the knees...

Thank you guys. I have read through the blog(s) and some very interesting information on there. So much to learn! It could be a job itself! I am now partial to the simple aesthetic of a SS constellation Pie Pan. I have seen a lot that are too good to be true. I guess it's a question of filtering and being patient with ones choices.. Alas, patience is not one my strongest virtues! 😜
