I need some info on this roamer sport

I found this from local sale, Roamer Sport MST 420 I estimate it to be late 1950's, but would welcome expert opinions. It's need serviced as it runs too fast. I love this vintage and it will be one collection. If anyone has any thoughts or is a Roamer expert, I'd love your observations.

It as been recased. The movement ring is that clay-like slap-dash stuff.

Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?
People need to be able to identify the watch with themselves. It's based on emotion." - Ralph Furter

...that's just my opinion and I've been wrong before and will be again and might be now!

Well it isn't an MST 420 because that is an automatic movement, I would suggest that it's an MST 424. There are several MST movements which are superficially like this but I know that they used the 424 in the Sports. You can see my Roamer Sports with this calibre here: http://mirius.co.uk/Calibre.htm?424,MST

I wouldn't be too quick to assume that this is a recase as I've one or two with similar sloppy fitting movement rings. As far as dating goes I'll defer to trim, but I'd say more likely into the Sixties.

Congratulations on the Sport, I've one or two of them in my collection, though not that one!

Or it could be the 401, which again was used for the Sport (I've not seen a 400 in the Sport, which doesn't discount it). Which is what happens when I lazily assume that the OP actually read 42x under the balance and don't check my references before posting.
