    identifacation help please...

    i recently bought this for my personal collection but cant figure out which one the book (complete price guide to watches) lists this as. there are 2 listed . either way i like it and for its age it is beautiful.

    very nice hampden series iv size 12. the serial number dates it to around 1919.

    thank you all.

    i take it i have the one listed in book as PAUL REVERE, 17J, OF, 14K. but what are they saying is 14k? the case? or the movement? cause most older watches say 14k rolled or something. so why do they list one with 14k and 2 without?

    14k usually refers to the case, with yours saying gold filled you don't have the one listed as 14k in the book. the difference between the two listed for 17 jewels is the one listed with 14k would have a gold case not a goldfilled one.

    well it was only one that was listed as open face :( either way im happy. what would this grade roughly? im trying to do research but i have just begun.

    i'd say it's average but i'm no expert. i found this pic showing the gold mark, i thought you might like seeing the difference

    i wish i had that case! but im still a little confused as to why they only list one type of open face if there is two.

    i dont know how im going to display this watch. the movement is a beautiful as the case.

    I think you are placing too much reliance on a book which claims to be 'complete' and yet clearly cannot be.
