    Identifying a watch (from a 1966 movie)

    Hi all,

I am trying to identify the watch worn by David Hemmings in Blow Up.

    and

The movie came out in 1966. Does anyone have any idea what it might be. I am looking to buy a similar style watch for myself but have no idea what to look for.

    Thanks and happy new year!

Don't know the brand but it looks like dozens you can find on eBay by specifying "vintage."

I find it interesting that he wears the watch on his right hand, upside down, on that first pic.
Unless he is a Leftie and the movie company wanted to hide it, and inverted the photo.

The first pic is definately flipped; his hair whorl is on the wrong side of his head.

Well, I doubt it's a Zenith - Zenith made some very similar watches at that time, but they were nearly perfectly square (e.g. the Zenith "Respirator"). On the other hand, if you want a modern watch like that, try the Zenith "New Vintage 1965":

(The link is just an example, not an endorsement of that particular site.) The watch is extremely close in style to the one you are trying to find. But then, as others will point out, there will be alternatives.....

Thanks a lot! It is a good starting point as my knowledge of watches is really scarce.

    Happy new year!

It can be a Longines, Tissot.....etc
Do not forget that the watch can very well be from the 1950ies. Or even -40ies!
If it is his personal piece, and a quality one, it can be many years old.
People used to wear the watches for many years.

    Could it be this one:

    http://www.watchestobuy.com/images/L...uareSteelb.JPG

it is 28x35, though the one on the photos looks more elongated ...
in any case, I did not really want the same watch ... I just liked the style and this looks close enough.

Ha! I saw that movie last week and squinted at the TV desperately trying to identify it. It's a tank or tanque shape - could be anything

In the movie he drove a Roller so it mighta been a Patek or VC...
