    Ignorance is bliss

Just seen this listing for an Enicap (sic) 'in need of a battery':

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Enicap-Stretch...item27b2e9831d

    Yup, that'd help.

    Hi Marrick,

not that strange. I bought quite some watches with dead battery.
Most were manual winds, and one described with "When shaking, it starts
runnnig some time, but something is rattling inside, probably the battery"
    was an automatic as expected.

In fact many young people believe that a watch without battery is kind of
science fiction, just like fishes differing from the common brick shape.

    Regards, Roland Ranfft

How about the occasional mis-type on sales listings: "wrust" watch?

Sadly, it is usually more accurate than the correct spelling...

I saw a manual winding watch the other night that according to the seller just had a new battery installed...

And if you know what you're looking for, you can use the misspellings to get a deal.

I picked up this Zodiac SST 36000 on the cheap.

And I believe I got it lower than typical high beat movement prices, mainly because the subject had is listed as a SST3600. So the hardcore players wouldn't find it in a normal search.
I've got more Converse sneakers than watches, but it is a close race.

    Roland,

There are lots of people who honestly believe that photography is impossible unless you use a camera with batteries!

Another eBay chuckle some time ago: someone was selling a camera from the 1950s, a prospective buyer asked the seller if the original software CD for transferring the image files to the computer was included

Yes! I got an "El Pimero" that way about 6 months ago. They also left the brand "Zenith" out of the entire listing, and misspelled "chronograph" as "chonograph" - obviously a sticky "r" key on the ole' keyboard. Sort of a perfect storm of mistakes. Can't remember how I found it.....
