    Illinois Watch

Here is an Illinois watch, I have dated to about 1878-79. A heavy 5 ounce coinsilver case.

This is the nicely finished and precisely made old American keywinder that helped establish the U.S. reputation as foremost quality producer with interchangeable high quality parts at a reasonable cost. Illinois always was a high quality source and is well respected. A nice antique.

Where can I find key for this? I don't want to use it, just have one to go with the watch.

    "to go with the watch"?

Any old watch-key will do. You can probably snatch them from flea-markets or from eBay.

But to actually WIND the watch and get it running, you would need a specific size of key, to fit the winding-arbor. That can be a bit harder to find.

You can find full sets of new production keys on ebay at an affordable price. The sets come in the most common sizes, and the quality is OK.
