    Illinois wirelug wristwatch

This is an Illinois wirelug wristwatch with a grade 903 6/0 size 15j movement from 1920. The Dueco gold filled case was made by Dueber Watch Case Co. My wife is currently wearing this watch.

Yes indeed a conversion. However the soldering of the lugs to the case can only be seen with magnification, and the band has a perfectly fitting buckle with similar patterns as to the watch case. There are no indications of a bow. I think this was a jeweler job back in the early twenties.

Very elegant, indeed. Much nicer on the wrist than in the pocket.

This kind of watches when marketed around 1920 were offered with a silk like textile band. And this combination, a fitting black textile band on a slender lady's wrist looks very elegant. Believe me.

In the picture, at first glance, it looks like a nylon strap.

But, I guess, its what's known as grosgrain:

Great find, Marrick! Grosgrain it is. How did you find this? Do you have a past in the old British textile industry?
