    Info on Elgin Electra

Just obtained this watch. See pics. Serial number 35854558. Looking for info on this type of model. Number search says made in 1936. Any help appreciated. Thank you.

Besides you finding info by the serial number, no telling what model this is. This looks like a really bad redial and no telling what the original dial may have looked like .

    Re: Info on Elgin Electra

Almost certainly a recase. The movement is one of the 18/0s, a little rectangular thing that Elgin used in men's and women's models in the 1930s, but the style of the case is much later.

Other hints - the shape of the 'G' in "ELGIN" - the official font has no 'tail' on the G.

Mind you, if the inner caseback is stamped "Cased and timed by Elgin Nat'l. Watch Co.", then I'm wrong.
