    Info request: Tusal Geneve

    Hello,

I got this Tusal Geneve last Saturday for my 40th birthday. It belonged to my grandfather after whom I was named.

I'm guessing he bought it in the 50's or 60's, but I can't find anything about the watch. Can anybody help me to get some info about the watch?

Also I'll have to replace the strap as this one is worn and to bug for me. I would like to add a strap that could gave been with the watch when originally sold. Any tips? Should I stay with plain leather, or is a pattern possible?

Sorry, I can't find Tusal listed in the usual places. A plain leather strap would suit it nicely I think.

What I meant to ask, is a textures leather strap correct for the period?

or should I go with untextured leather?

and is stitching period or non stitching?

I want the watch to look like it could have the original strap, but I don't know what was common or even available at the time.

If you look at some old watch ads, such as Vintage Ads - 1956 (click on the years to the left to see more) you'll see examples of the kind of straps used. Some textured, some plain, some contrast stitching.

Thanks, this helps. I even see something that looks like crock. (not that I would think about crock, not my taste) Now I can start the hunt for a nice 17 mm strap.
