    15 jewel grade 484 made 1927 all right. Nice if in good running condition. Not rare. Elgin made over 550000 of them.

    Runs on and off, probably needs cleaning?
    The Elgin Database I looked up the serial # for says 8000 were made of this serial. I've been meaning to find out, what does the grade actually mean? Like movement?

    No they made 8000 in that particular run of movements. Between 1926 and 1937 they made over half a million. Grade 484 is Elgin's designation or caliber for that movement.
