I just completed restoration of an old Tavannes pocket watch my buddy picked up at an antiques dealer.
As a watchmaking student it was a good challenge, the work done included, turning a new balance staff, straightening a bent wheel pivot, cleaning the dial, polishing/re-flaming the hands (to a burgundy red), replacing the crystal, polishing the case).
Now that the work is completed, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the origins/history of this watch.
The movement is marked Tavannes Watch Co, 15 jewels, 4 adjts, swiss, Ref 919.
The case is stamped 35492 but I'm not certain if it's the original case.
