    Information about a Tissot Aquachron

This was my grandfather watch, does some one have some information about this watch? I can´t find any references about this Tissot Aquachron. In the back there is a engraved dedication with the date of 1939.

Could we get a movement pic please :)

I can tell you right off that the dial has been refinished.

Looks like it is a snap on back to me but I could be wrong.

No problem. The reason for the need of the movement pic is that it can give us lots of info. A dial can be refinished to say anything but the movement and info inside the case back gives a more accurate story.

I think the word "Aquachron" is likely the result of the dial restorer's outburst of creativity. There was never such a Tissot - there was the Aquasport line, but they were time-only watches with waterproof cases. And since Aquasports had screw-in case backs, it's unlikely to have been an Aquasport.

One thing I'm sure, this was my grandfathers watch and was a gift he recieved inthe late 30's or 40's. I have to ask my father about the "restoration" of the dial.

Based on the engraving, it seems likely that your grandfather received it in 1939, don't you think?

Not exactly, the watch was a "thank you" gift from a jew that went to South America during world war II and left all his properties in my grandfather name. After the war he returned and got the properties back. The engraving refers to the date he left, I don´t know if he gave the watch when he left or when he returned.
