My assumption is Zook is a jeweler who had their name placed on the dial. This is called private labeling. It was common in the early 20th century when the pictured watch was made.

Zook is an uncommon name in the US. I knew a family and they were from central Europe. Maybe diligent searching will find out more.

"The watch has to be surrounded by a history.
You need more than just a great design. You need to create an atmosphere around the product.
Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?
People need to be able to identify the watch with themselves. It's based on emotion." - Ralph Furter

...that's just my opinion and I've been wrong before and will be again and might be now!

Well, the OP's watch is an Omega private label, mid-grade. If yours looks the same, then your serial number would date it to around 1898. The OP's dates to 1906. Dates on private label watches can vary though. Here's my Eatons's version; note how the design on the balance cock is nearly identical. This type of Omega is very very common.

Yes you are right. S. Kurtz Zook was a prominent jeweler in Lancaster Pa. Watches, clocks, and jewelery were his specialty. My "Zook Special" has his name on the face of the watch unlike the one in the photos, but is marked Zook Special, Lancaster Pa along with a serial number on the works. Is there any way to identify the manufacture of the works?

As I already mentioned, the OP's watch was made by Omega. If yours looks the same, then yours was also made by Omega.
