Information needed on this Pocket Watch

    Hi there,
I recently bought this vintage silver pocket watch and would welcome any information on its age, movement etc. Also anthing about the buttons on the top of the watch - I know the left one is depressed to adjust the time but I have no idea what the right one is for.

Pin-set, open-faced, stem-wind pocket watch, ceramic dial with Roman numerals I think dates it to the late 19th century or the first 20 years of the 20th century.

I was going to say that the second button was to reset a hand which would serve as a stopwatch hand, but there's no such hand or subdial on this watch, so I'm not sure.

It looks to me like it may be missing some parts-perhaps it had a center seconds hand at one time. Not sure. We have some watchmaking experts who can tell more. The watch movement is Swiss/European around 1900.

There's definitely an extra wheel for driving a central seconds hand from the 3rd wheel, and the extra button seems to have a lever under it that might have had a chronograph function, but clearly there are some parts missing. I'd hazard an inexpert guess and say that this probably used some kind of vertical clutch to start and stop the centre seconds.

This would be the first chronograph I've seen with a cylinder escapement.
