    Information on this watch

    Hi all.

I bought this watch back in 1971 on a flight to Spain. I suppose thats why the alarm plays Viva Espania.
I'm not sure if it counts as vintage but I would appreciate any information on the maker and model. I can't find much on the net re Montine.

    Thanks in anticipation

    Andy

    Hi -

    Hmmm...

Can't help you much: that is a very generic LCD watch.

Certainly about as vintage as LCD watches go. However, are you sure on that date? That would make this one about as early as you could find: the very first LCD watch was made by Gruen using an ILIXICO company 4-digit display in 1970, and the Seiko 6-digit didn't come out until around 1973.

If you were to say 1974 or later, then OK. But 1971???

    Thanks John F.
I've been checking my dates. Definately holidayed in Spain 1971. Y Viva Espana was a hit in 1971 and 1973/4. I know the watch was duty free. I did go to Corfu in 1973 and 1974 so maybe I got it on one of those trips.
Sorry to bore you with music trivia. It was easier to find than anything on Montine.
    Thanks again

    Re: Information on this watch

    Hi -

Probably then 1974: at that point LCD panels had migrated to the OEMs and such a watch would have been affordable...
