Today i picked up this piece from one of local antique shop.

not much information of this piece and can't find anything in google

movement seems to be very basic and industrial.

the only thing i know is that the case is solid silver

anyone might have idea about this piece?

A better shot of the movement would help... The balance cock shape and the general layout would suggest, that the movement was made by Phenix.

I suspect that it would be around about the date of the inscription.

    Re: interesting find in yangon

    Hello

Nice watch. The watch was made by SC Coombes LTD of Rangoon Burma( Yangon Myanmar). They were a silversmith and jeweler shop in Burma during the days of the British.

From the small amount of info that I can gather, this was a company that was known for their silver works(including ornate silver bowls).

The watch was probably the store's house brand. I am sure they sourced out the movement(I am not sure of the dial since a lot of those types of places could make their own)

I would think it is of the period that it says on the inscription. These watches were usually made to order(customer place and order and a week or so later came round to pick it up)

Of course it could be 5 or 10 years older. A watch from 1904 looked or worked no different then a pocket watch made in 1914.

It is a nice watch and a nice piece of local memorabilia
