ISO Pocket watch information - Ryrie Bros Toronto - 1901

I have recently been handed down by a family member a a pocket watch from 1901.

    Ryrie Bros Toronto

on the back of the front plate:
    14k gold case
    A.W.C. CO
    73819

the only markings in the case on the movement are:
    Ryrie Bros Toronto
    1118869

After some basic research i read that Longines had made the movement for Ryrie bros, one gentleman with a similar Ryrie pocket watch had confirmation back from longines that it was infact their movement, after he sent in the serial number.
Should i do the same ?

the watch is near perfect condition wise and keeps time perfectly

    Any info would help !

    thank you all in advance

Yes, you should email Longines. I have no doubt that this is a Longines made movement. They sold private label watches of different grades all over North America, through their distributor, A. Wittnauer.

In the meantime, go to this website and enter your serial number.

    https://vintagewatchresources.com/lo...ar-identifier/

You will see that the movement was made in 1900. That fits nicely with your story.

Longines can give you a more exact date of manufacture. They can't trace the actual sale date in Canada.

    Hope this helps,

    Hello all,
i have just received word back from Longines, It is in fact a Longines movement, invoiced on november 20th 1900 to the company A. Wittnauer.
It was then purchased by a family member of mine and engraved for the daughter Eva at the time, which read February 19th, 1901.
Very cool that Longines offers this service and can date serial numbers back so far.

    Thanks
