IWC- Lép. calibre 52 gold pocket watch

I own this pocket watch that is from the early 1930s or earlier. It's in very very good condition, as it's been in storage for most of its life. It also has a nice gold fob attached. Trying to find out more about this watch,. I googled what's engraved on the movement.

Probus Scafusia, IWC, H5, 606439, also the number 55231

On the inner lid is this number: 918813. I don't know what that number designates.

Through Google I found out that this watch has the Lép. calibre 52. I am trying to get as much info as I can find. For example, the crystal is some kind of plastic or maybe celluloid-based material. I am also interested in the value of the watch. Any further information is appreciated!

Here is some information on the movement and case. It's a lovely watch, in very nice condition. If you read the rules, you will see that valuations are not generally provided in this forum. However, I will say that this watch definitely has some value, because of the quality, the condition, and the gold.

I suspect that this is not the original case for this movement, given the large disparity in years of manufacture.

Thanks for the information. Any idea why the IWC software says H6? It says definitely H5 on the movement.

That the movement and the watch case were "mated" at some point is quite possible. My great-grandfather was a watchmaker and this was a watch he gave as a wedding gift.

Any idea what the crystal is made of? I suppose it could be plexiglass, which was first used commercially in 1933.

Crystals are a service item. It could be original, it could have been replaced relatively recently. Hard to guess what it could be made of.

Fairly recently would have to have be more than 40 years ago, because I got the watch for confirmation. Before then, my grandmother had it, and I think she got it in the '30s and from what she told me, she never used it. Our family owned a watch and jewelry store for almost 100 years before selling the buisness in the 1980s. My great-grandfather and great-uncle were both professional watchmekers and goldmsmiths their whole working lives.
