    IWC Pocket watch Movement Identification

I am asking for help identifying a pocket watch movement. I have come across several that are similar, but none that are exact. There is a date on the movement that says: Sept 15th 1868, also: International Watch Co. New York

The only number that I can find in regards to the movement serial number appears to be to the left of the balance wheel and the number is 2754.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mike

The date is the date of a patent referred to. The whole movement looks a little like the FA Jones movement used in modern Portugieser wrist watch:

LIVING FINE • Uhren Datenbank: IWC Schaffhausen | Portugieser-Regulateur

...which goes by the (modern) calibre description of Cal. 98245. That one is about 36mm across. How big is your movement?

I have found the same movement here...
    IWC 1868 or 1869?

This is the earliest known example of a Jones movement, it is # 1410
    The movement I have is # 2754

Here is a write up I received from IWC a while ago after an enquiry about my watch.

If you look at the post-1905 Zenith pocket watch calibres, they are all rather similar. The main difference is size and the calibre codes distinguish between them on those grounds. If yours is 42mm in diameter, I suspect that it will just be an early 19''' IWC pocket watch calibre with pretty much that sort of designation.
