Just bought an early 50's Bulova... Help?

Hi, I'm relatively new to to watch collecting community, and i'm sure you guys get these threads 30 times a day, but can anyone confirm a more specific year for this piece? Or value? I bought it to keep, so not planning on selling, just curious. This is such a fascinating hobby!

There usually is a date code for Bulova - see this chart:

    Vintage Bulova reference material

I'd look on the movement for it if it is on that watch. The case was generic, used by dozens of brands in the 40's and 50's. While the code is usually on the caseback, it probably won't be on that particular watch. You might have better luck asking this on the Vintage & Pocketwatch Forum.

Amusingly I have an almost identical Benrus. I should post a photo so you can compare.

    I also like.

This case was a popular style and was used by (besides Bulova), Benrus and Gruen amongst others.

    Spot the near identical Benrus.

I wonder who was copying who?

Yep I have three with a case like this - 2x benrus (one automatic) and one bulova.
Even JLC made a watch with this case!
