Question Just bought an Omega Constellation Pie Pan - Thoughts?

Looked like a great watch, I've always wanted one but I've rarely seen one with a shiny gold dial (any idea if it's plated? solid?). I'm no pie pan expert so I thought I'd ask for opinions on the watch and what its worth?

One thing worries me a bit- the caseback is for a ref. CK 14381, in stainless steel, introduced in 1959. This is a "goldcap" model, with gold lugs and bezel, and the Omega database does not include a goldcap variant of this particular watch- the only (in the Omega database, at least) goldcap model equipped with the calibre 551 is the ref. CD 167.0005, but it would not have lume on hands. Not all variants are listed, though. So it's either a variant of the CK 14381, or a CD 167.0005 with a wrong caseback- this however would be strange, as the hands are correct for the 14381. The 5 after the reference number may account for a different variant, of the same watch, but I am not certain as to that either. I hope that the first eventuality (fully original) is true, but I am not convinced about either option.

I've come to the conclusion that the database is far from perfect. According to it, the 176.007 was only available in stainless steel and we know there are genuine GF variations.

I agree with that conclusion. I have merely expressed my doubts, though I made it clear (at least I hope I did), that there's a high chance they're entirely wrong, and the watch is fully original. Which, overall, it seems to be, and I'd like to believe that- it's a truly great looking piece. I guess it's the entire market for vintage Omegas, so crowded with fakes and frankens, that makes me a little paranoid- but again considering abundance of counterfeits, it's better to be safe than sorry. So it's best to look at every detail, and consider any suspicious feature wrong until it's verified as correct.
