Just in - Cortebert and my growing vintage collection

    Hi

I left today from work a bit in a hurry

I had to get to my jeweler shop to pick up this beauty before closing time

    It is a Cortebert model ( i think - Spirofix )

I got it from my father who recently got a brand new Longines, due to this one had stoped working.

After all the Cortbert had just a broken spring, and the fix was not that expensive .

I'm lovin it!!! All i have to do now is get a decent strap for it, even so now is getting a lot of wrist time.

Now my little collection of vintage

    Lol it is slowly growing

My trusty old Seiko ( needs a good cleaning and a strap )

The very little Argil Watch ( I think this is a women's watch but i'm not sure I don't use it because i have big thick wrists )

    Hi there!

Its nice to see your keeping these watches going... you certainly have a wide range of styles in you collection!!

I would have to put your new addition as my favourite out of the bunch... nice to see it in its original condition... As for your trusty old seiko... is it running?? It looks like it may have a little bit of water damage to the dial... which is likely to have reached the movement... as such, it may be your trusty old seiko - with a silent T in Trusty!

Some movement pics of the others would be interesting to see!!

    Hi Sparcster

Good guess on the t(R)usty Seiko ... salt water 22 years ago

    Amazingly it still runs

For the amount of water that entered, the movement is not that bad ( i think ) lol

Of course it is rusted but maybe in the Future i'll see what can be done in terms of service.

Here's a quick pic i took from the movement

    Hi Mike,

The dial was a little bit of a give-away!!

I have owned lots and lots of seikos... the movements are real workhorses and can run with years on neglect... However... due to the cheaper parts (compared to similar priced swiss watches), they can implode! I would say a service on this watch should been seen as a must, especially if it has sentimental value (you have owned it many years, so I guess so!)... because, if the movement does pack in... it could be the death of the watch!!

here is my seiko helmet - with the same movement!

was trying to be arty with the pic... was more interested in getting seiko on the box in focus.... you get the idea though!!

I see the first watch could do with a service as you have it more or less on full advance

    Lovely watch Sparcster!!

My Seiko is in a drawer hoping for better day's. Yes it has sentimental value due to it was passed onto me

I find this unforgivable from my part but i almost forgot one last watch

A picture of this watch was my first post on WUS ( not so long ago... lol )
