Just found Dad's Bull's Eye pocket watch

So I was digging through an old drawer and came across my Father's pocket watch from when he was little.

Looks to be a Westclox "Bull's Eye" branded as a Columbia Time Products. Says La Salle, Ill on the dial.

I believe its from 1960 as it is stamped 12 60 on the inside. The back has my Dad's initials engraved in it along with a little dent.

I was able to wind it up, set the time and its ticking away...

That's cool. Always fun to find something sentimental that you can connect with differently.

Agreed. Can give it to my boy's when they get older as well. Helps that the little one has the same initials (which he thinks is cool)

Love family heirlooms, especially when they are personalized. Did he put his initials in himself? That would be really cool!

Unfortunately I can't ask him. But, my Uncle or even my Grandmother may know...

Nicely done, slightly of-center, and no middle initial which is unusual for this part of the world. The intitials were punched in, dot by dot. You have to put something underneath in order not to bend anything.

I can confirm that he put the initials in himself. But, outside that nobody can determine how or when he got it.
Based on the date, he would have been about 14 yrs old at the time. That leads me to believe that maybe it was for Confirmation or graduating middle-school/beginning high-school...
