    JYB - another French obscurity

Came today. JYB doesn't appear in any list I've got access to, but seems to be still alive JYB : Horbinor - grossiste - bijoux - JYB. Perhaps not so obscure after all.

Nice octagonal case with some plating wear.

    Cupillard 233 inside - as usual -

The crystal seems to be flat mineral glass - somewhat scratched, but wearable. The back has 'quartz' on it so I'm guessing that its not original.

Working OK so far. Nobody else wanted it so I got it for 99p.

yes, that's the brand, from Bethune, circa 1970 with the FE rather than the Cupillard? The face is the only style I've ever seen on older JYB's, they come up very once in a while on French fleabay, not quite as inexpensively as yours though Yet another Marrick bargain

Nice catch - a bargain at twice the price. Octagon case is interesting. Enjoy.

Who'd have believed that there'd be so many French producers, Marricks and John 87300's posts highlighting these obscure brands
have been a real eye opener, I'm amazed.

    Nice watch

Ten or twelve years ago I impulsively bought this JYB watch very inexpensively in Bayeux, France. I liked the balance mounted on the dial. This was before these Chinese movements became dirt common everywhere you turn. Still, a nice look.

    That is very nice.

I went to Bayeux many years ago - fond memories of getting rather wobbly on calvados. Oh yes, and a tapestry too I seem to recall.
